Science Curriculum Segment Head

Who we look for
In your role as a Curriculum Segment Head for the Science Management Unit, you will be responsible for managing the curriculum for Secondary Science (Chemistry), guided by the Unit Head.

Job responsibilities

  • Lead developer for Secondary 1 to Secondary 4 Chemistry curriculum.
    • Develop scheme of work(s) and plan weekly lesson material.
    • Write weekly lesson materials.
    • Source, edit and modify appropriate quality materials to be included in the curriculum.
    • Prepare weekly teacher’s reference copy and student’s copy.
    • Respond to feedback and queries from all staff regarding the curriculum.
  • Manage the quality of the Secondary Science curriculum (Chemistry) through appropriate review and evaluation processes.
    • Review curriculum to ensure (re)-alignment with MOE and national syllabus.
    • Provide professional input and corrective feedback on curriculum materials to ensure alignment with The Learning Lab’s (TLL) framework and house style.
    • Review and vet curriculum to increase support to teachers, to implement better ways of dealing with differentiated instruction.
  • Responsible for learning design for Secondary Science.
    • Identify and evaluate for adoption, appropriate learning design models and or frameworks as possible methodologies appropriate to TLL’s teaching and learning model.
    • Design and develop blended learning and or e-Learning courses and assessment activities that are aligned with TLL’s teaching and learning model.
    • Innovate and create assessment strategies that will enable the Learning Management System (LMS) to accurately track student progress and development.
    • Lead, support and ensure the timely development of online curriculum materials.
    • Take charge of quality assurance processes to ensure that the curriculum materials in the LMS complies with TLL’s teaching and learning model.
  • Responsible for the management of the team, including providing feedback to the Curriculum Unit Head for appraisal and professional development purposes.
  • Responsible for meeting desired KPIs and timelines.
  • Any other ad-hoc duties as assigned.

Snapshots of our ideal candidate

  • Possesses a Bachelor’s Degree holder in a relevant discipline, preferably Chemistry.
  • A specialist in curriculum development for Secondary School students.
  • Has experience in MOE, or possesses a good understanding of the MOE and or international school curriculum.
  • Able to commit to working 4 weekdays and 1 weekend (either Saturday or Sunday).
  • Meticulous, with a flair for designing educational materials.
  • Proven track record of academic and extracurricular excellence.
  • Team player, with effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Flexible and able to manage change and ambiguity well.
  • Able to innovate and improve processes.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
