Polyolefins Process Improve Engineer

As a member of ExxonMobil Global Polymers Technology organization, the Improve Engineer will serve as a senior technical resource primarily responsible for the optimization and betterment of existing process technology and support rollout efforts of new product initiatives to Manufacturing.  The Improve Engineer should have an in-depth understanding of the current state of process technology in the polyolefins industry and will create and disseminate new process technology within the organization.  The role will also include work in multi-disciplinary teams to solve problems and improve the performance at ExxonMobil’s worldwide network of polymers plants through the application of sound engineering principles. Primary job functions are as follows:

  • Applies personnel and process safety principles within ExxonMobil’s facilities
  • Drives operations improvements through technical contribution and innovation
  • Participates in global process networks and network initiatives implementation
  • Supports implementation of new technology developments
  • Leads new product development and plant implementation
  • Development of the next generation of technical professionals
  • Manages site Intellectual Property obligations


  • B.S. Degree (or higher) in Chemical Engineering or equivalent degree
  • Strict adherence to safety rules and systems
  • Experience in chemical manufacturing or technology support
  • Demonstrate knowledge or experience in polymer manufacturing operations, preferably slurry /gas phase polyolefins
  • Prior experience in the development and implementation of small to medium size projects
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Requires occasional international travel

  • Expert in the use of accepted industry technical tools and methods
  • Interact effectively with all levels of the organization on technical topics
  • Leadership and initiative in identifying and resolving technical challenges

  • Demonstrate knowledge or experience in solids handling
  • Demonstrate ability working with a diverse and global team of technical professionals
