Olefins Process Chemist

Responsibilities:

  • Building and maintaining the organization’s knowledge of chemistry fundamentals relating to olefins recovery processes in the areas of Fouling, Corrosion, Contaminants, Additives, Acid gas treating, Product qualities and, specifically, Tar chemistry
  • Leading root cause identification and mitigation of chemistry-related problems such as plant fouling
  • Collaborating with process technology specialists and manufacturing sites, and developing risk/reward assessments for chemistry-intensive changes in the plant, e.g., those involving catalysts, adsorbents, and process chemicals
  • Providing guidance on process and analytical chemistry-related issues related to Olefins plant feedstock and associated contaminants

Requirements:
  • MS/PhD in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry from a reputed university
  • 5 to 15 years of experience in a role involving industrial chemistry that required deep understanding of the impacts of chemical mechanisms on unit operations
  • Knowledge of the fundamental technical elements of steam cracking, including recovery, feedstock, and the basics of pyrolysis/furnace operation
  • Proven ability to work in teams with process engineers and analytical chemists
  • Excellent communication skills/experience, demonstrated ability to effectively explain complex chemistry issues to others in the organization
  • Proven ability to apply known industry analytical techniques and adapt them to new situations
  • Willing to travel globally (up to 20% of the time)
