Trading Accountant – Coffee (6 months contract with opportunity for extension)

Trading Accountant is responsible for the financial accounting and business reporting as well as the daily operation of the Asia Coffee Segment. 

The person should provide quality information for business strategy formation and for driving continuous improvement in business processes and systems to improve efficiency.

The position is based in Singapore.

Key Relationships Reports to:   

  • Finance Manager functionally and Head of Coffee

Other key relationships: 

  • Internal – Management, Traders, Logistics, Group Control & Treasury, Legal and IT
  • External – Auditors, tax & legal advisors, financial institutions, brokers


  • This position will be responsible for the finance function of the Asia Coffee Segment currently with 2 direct reporting. 
  • The position is in charge of financial stewardship for 1 legal entity and 1 representative office under the Coffee Segment


Major Responsibilities

  • Control Framework:
  • Responsible Month end financial closing
  • Implement/maintain accounting and financial reporting of the business
  • Act as business partner for the product, Risk, Compliance and Corporate
  • Provide quality management discussion and analysis
  • Ensure the smooth daily trade and finance flow
  • Ensure a framework of budgeting and forecasting is established
  • Analyze, map, streamline and improve business and financial processes & systems
  • Establish and maintain accounting manual to keep up with changes in accounting standards and business needs
  • Support finance manager and management in ad-hoc corporate reporting




The ideal candidate should have:

  • A good degree/diploma in Accounting, Commerce or Finance. CPA or CA preferred
  • Minimum 3 years working experience preferably in a commodity with solid understanding of the product controlling in a trading environment
  • Have an excellent problem solving skills and approach with the ability to prioritize, organize in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical, project management and communications skills, and self-motivated
  • Good track record in system implementation and project development
  • Self-starter with strong business judgment who can initiate action and follow through with well-defined solutions and action plans.
  • Preferable with experience in Microsoft Navision ERP system
