Overview:

You will play a critical role in keeping crops healthy and productive, determining how environmental conditions can be optimised to maximise plant yield and quality. It’s important that you work well with a team and are comfortable working closely with farm managers, farm hands and farm engineers.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor, investigate & identify problems with plant growth/development as it relates to environmental conditions, and/or nutrient deficiencies
  • Design & implement experiments to determine the effects of specific growing conditions on plant growth/development & convey findings to meet production goals
  • Analyse large crop data sets to optimise crop yields & develop agricultural models
  • Manage farm operations – seeding, transplanting, harvesting, monitoring & managing farm equipment
  • Manage supply & demand of produce, coordinate delivery of produce


Requirements:

  • Degree relating to biology, plant sciences or horticulture
  • Understanding of basic experimental design, scientific methods, statistical design & analysis
  • Familiar in growing plants, able to identify issues like pest & diseases
  • Able to manage & work with people of different education & backgrounds
  • Able to learn quickly & comfortable with farming equipment & technology
  • Humble, teachable team-player who is enthusiastic & hard-working
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software

 

Bonus Requirements:

  • Knowledge of plant physiology or agronomy
  • Experience working in a greenhouse or indoor farm
  • Programming skills
